Any ideas what this could be? Noticed this about 2 days ago. The previous day I fed puffers a thawed frozen baby clam soaked for a few hours in metranidazole since I have another puffer in the tank that is/was suffering from IPs (though it's doing better now). The puffer is otherwise completely healthy and shows no signs of any illness or distress. The bump is larger than it appears in the photos below, though they give you some idea. It was hard to get the right angle with the puffer constantly moving, most of the time to look directly at my phone/camera.

1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate).

pH: 8.0
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrates: 20 ppm
SG: 1.007

2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.

Tank Size: 55 gallons
Inhabitants: 2 GSPs

3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)

Feeding: Frozen bloodworms nearly every day. Few snails once a week. Occasionally ghost shrimps.
Water Changes: 30% each week (I add Red Sea marine salt to the water with every change)

4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.

No changes

5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.

Tank was formerly occupied by a pair of slider turtles. GSPs have been in it for the past 6-7 mos.

It's not something I have seen before, doesn't look too concerning though. Keep a close eye on it for now,

Maybe the other puffer bit him?

like you guys I suspected that it was probably nothing to worry about but one can never know and, if possible, I wanted to address the problem before it had the chance to turn into anything too serious. thankfully, our suspicions seemed to be right, as the lump has steadily decreased in size over the past few days and is now barely visible. I still wish I knew what it was but am happy that my puffers are healthy. the other puffer too, has greatly improved.
