What is going on?

So last night just like any night I fed my dp his bloodworms that I soaked for about 3 hours in metro+ since I think he has parasites. I saw him eat them all so I went onto the next tank to feed some of the bigger fish. Then 5 min later I went to go check on the dp again, and I noticed him like almost spasming with his tail and his stomach was quickly going from full to sunken, to full to sunken. Then after that was over he pooped right away, and then I noticed his stomach was almost lob sided, one side full and one side sunken. Then when I woke up this morning I went to check on him. His stomach was like sunken in the front and rounder in the back, like he swallowed a bb and it stuck in the back of his stomach. Any ideas? did he maybe eat to fast?

Unlike most fish, puffers lack ribs. That makes it very easy to see individual meals as the transit through the gut. It takes some getting used to, but is normal for these fish.

How long have you been treating for? I've tried metro myself and don't get nearly as good results as when I use those jungle fizzy tabs that you can pick up from walmarts with a fish section. Otherwise I can probably mail you some if you want and don't mind paying me back for shipping (which wont be much) you're really close by to me.

I was just worried as I never saw my GSP do it. I have treated for about 3 weeks, I am pretty sure the dp is good, its just my rams in another tank that still have problems. I also have prazipro, should I use that?

I've been wondering if you can use two separate medications mixed together to help treat fish better. From what I can tell using prazipro and the metro together in a fw tank is fine and can help cure fish faster.

So ya use both of them together and it should help with the ip faster.

No, not faster but will cover different parasites.

So I should soak the bloodworms in both? I have heard that PraziPro when given orally has killed some fish.

The only way to treat internal parasites, is internally. If you are concerned, use the med mentioned above. We all have had good success with it.

Those were only with salt water fish cause those also drink the tank water so they got over medicated and died. Fresh water fish don't drink so you don't have to worry about over medication as long as you do the correct dosage.

Never tried Metro. Tried Prazi, Jungle tabs, and Jungle crystal IP Guard...For me the PraziPro is most palatable and accepted. And also for me the one DP and 3 F8s have all survived from the same product. I had 2 DPs and an F8 die using Jungle products...But I will say that these fish definitely had IPs.

I was referring to the Jungle Parasite Clear.
