Increasing Salinity

Hello,

I'd like to increase my GSPs' tank salinity by 0.002. I've been dissolving marine salt in warm, dechlorinated water first then pouring it into the tank and I could always see the salt crystals floating around when dumped into the tank. Is it harmful to my GSPS?

What are alternative ways of mixing salt thoroughly and adding it to the tank safely?

Try mixing it with a powerhead.

+1 you should use a power head and mix the water for a few hours before you use.

What size is ur fish tank. If you have a Harbor Freight near by, you van get a pond pump for under 10 bucks...Then get a trash can to premix ur water. If you live where it gets cold in the winter you'll need to buy a heater too. Then pre-mix your water about 24hrs ahead of WC time. You can also attach a hose to the pond pump to transfer the mixed water directly to ur tank.

A hydrometer to measure SG will also be needed.

Good luck.

I used to add it to the impeller side of my Aquaclear. Be sure of the exact amount you need to use though.

Thanks guys!

I have a 57g tank with 2 GSPs in it. I am currently using a hydrometer, but I don't trust it all that much so I'm looking at getting a refractometer.

I'll most likely get a power head, as there isn't a close-by Harbor Freight where I live.
