I was just wondering, are crayfish crunchy enough to "trim" a puffers teeth?

Yes they certainly provide crunch

It depends from puffer to puffer, and also some species have fastest teeth growth rate.
Generally, all the foods with soft shell (snails, shrimps and crayfish) provide enough "trim" but some puffers need harder foods, like crab legs or small mussels.

Oh, yeah! You can also remove their claws prior to feeding if you're worried about your puff getting pinched up.

Ah yes, saps would require more crunch for example. Some do remove the claws, I feel they should have their defense tools, they will fight back but never win.

I feed my Fahaka Crays on a regular basis. I have a 75 gallon of marmokrebs with easily a few hundred crays in it. They're definitely crunchy enough for a Fahaka, but my Ceylon needs more... He can actually crunch right though MTS (malaysian trumpet snails) which are very very hard and not recommended for puffers (this guy is a beast tho, and has no issue crushing them).

I have never de-clawed my crays, and I've put some in that are easily 3-4".... had one grab the side of my puffer, but just got shaken off and devoured. Didn't even leave a mark on my Fahaka.

I agree. Same with my fahaka. Would throw anywhere from 3-5" crays (small-large clawwed) in with mine also. He would attack them and chew up and eat every single piece of the crayfish. You can hear the crunchin sounds of him chewin the large claws like they a tatar chips..lol. Btw, geronimo, hows it been goin? Have not seen you much in here lately.

Mr. Puffington, small crayfish would be great for the lil guy.
