What is everyone using for live food. Looking for some saltwater shrimp to breed as I just aquired another 29 gallon for $10.00 at the thrift store. I already breed ramshorn snails and would like to breed to shrimp or clams or something that is fairly easy to breed.

Cherry shrimp aren't marine, but they are fairly easy to breed.

Snoopey loves live food. He get krill, snails, brine, mysis, octopus, squid and clams now. But loves ghost shrimp and thought I would breed some marine shrimp for him to hunt. He seems to like it.

If your puffer likes ghost shrimp why not breed ghost shrimp?

Really was looking for somethng that would last longer in a Marine tank. So I could put them in and not worry about them getting ate before they die and cause problems. Would also be nice for when I leave for more than a day to just throw a couple in to get him through. The grass shrimp from everything I have found are the same kind of shrimp just from a marine environment. Just want more opinions.

Most fish can go quite some time without eating.

I know, but I still would prefer to let snoop hunt some and not worry about dead shrimp stuck under my live rock messing up my water. I QT all live food for 2 months before it gets eaten. I now have two breeder tanks and two qt tanks. What about hermit crabs? Good clean-up crew before they meet their demise?

Hermit crabs may work well. I don't know how easy it is or isn't to breed them though so you'd need to research that.

So no one really knows about marine shrimp how about marine snails. Which are safe for snoopey to eat and be a clean up crew in the meantime?

old post but i just found out some mini turbos work well and will breed in captivity 0.25" max size
i'm looking for something to breed in my marine sump or to let live in the tank and eventually get hunted by my stars & stripes puffer also.

So far as I know, all marine shrimp have planktonic larvae, so are difficult and tedious to breed. Shrimp are not very high on the crunch factor, but can be nutritious otherwise. Don't plan on captive breeding. It requires the sae foods as rearing SW fish bred in captivity. The product is too $$ to use as food.
