The Puffer Forum

First off, I want the active members of this forum to know that I am only making this thread because I respect you're opinions and trust that you wouldn't steer someone in search of info/advice in the wrong direction.

I've heard a lot of trash talking on other fish keeping sites and their methods around here lately, which is fine. Like I said in my intro, i'm not new to the forum world, I've been an active poster on automotive forums for the better part of a decade now and have tens of thousands of posts on various local and national level forums. I can easily spot a walrus car forum within minutes, but with aquaria and fish keeping, I am lost to what is a "good" site and what is not. Everyone here has been extremely helpful and informative and I can tell that the big shots on this forum really know their stuff and have a genuine affinity for fish keeping and the general wellbeing of captive aquatic life and all other sorts of pets.

I'm coming to you in search of another reliable, trustworthy marine fish keeping forum to have some questions answered. As some of you may know, for the time being, I have moved away from puffers and now own a fuzzy dwarf lion fish (soon to be two!) and I'm looking for some specific info and experiences, similar to those that members of this forum have on the subject of puffers, but in regards to my lion(s). Do any of your recommend a forum I can visit that will provide me relevant, accurate real world wisdom/experience on these fish? I in no way intend on leaving this forum, however I understand that the vast majority of the population here are focussed on puffers and don't want to be riddled with questions on a completely different classification of fish (this is the PUFFER forum after all), so any recommendations are appreciated.

I do plan to stay active here, and hope to own another puffer someday when I have the space/means of keeping one of the larger species, however for now I really enjoy keeping my lionfish and hope to find him a partner very soon, and I would really appreciate if anyone knows of a website like this one where I can obtain trustworthy information on keeping and caring for my fish.

Totally understandable you need a different species of fish people.

I'm not sure if this will help, but Arny is always posting stuff like fish for sale on other forums. PMing him for some may work? Or you can see if he posts, just a suggestion.

You can ask any question here, we are mainly puffer focused but have many experienced members with all kinds of weird and wonderful fish. I like reading about different things. Many of us keep several tanks and many species/ families of fish. We are focused on what's best for the fish here which is something you wont find on many other forums. We dont tend to trash talk about other forums if we can avoid it, the two recently mentioned just give horrific advise and won't listen to anyone who wants to do more than the bare minimum or keep sensible stocking levels

Wet Web Media is a good one. Marine Depot Is another. But similar to this forum there are many others out there that specialize in a particular species or group. Reef Central is the largest aquatic forum out there.
