Can I feed this to my Congo and if so are there any bits I can't? He's in the freezer at the moment http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u47 ... oto-21.jpg
Is there anything I should avoid for him as I'm going to a big indoor market tomorrow and there's loads of fish stalls, don't wanna get anything and it not be ok.

Those claws look a bit risky. How large are they?
Fresh food is great if it does not carry a risk of infection - or of fighting back too effectively.

Well the claw arm is 4 1/2 inches and the pincers are 1 inch. Wasn't sure about it still having its shell, I know most use earthworms as the main food cos there's not so many issues with teeth over growing. He's been having raw king prawns(no shell) and just started giving scallops too. Most other things like seafood mix are pre cooked, so it's a real hunt to get anything else. Should I leave giving the claw?

Well,
Since he's in the freezer, I don't foresee him fighting back. So, I doubt the claws will be much of a problems. Leave him in there for at least 24 hours to ensure all nasty stuff is dead. As far as what part you need to not feed, I am not positive so wait for someone to chime in on that.

All the White meat can be fed for sure, as teeth growth is no real issue I would smash the shell of and feed only the meat

The meaty portion would only at the tail though. I would remove the shell as, not too sure that congos are able to chew through them. But, Imo its a little waste of good money.. they do not have alot of meat, and most likely u cant make use of the crunchy shell and they would be more costly I guess.. the little wet thing might just be grumbling a little for the extra chewiness. I would really love to eat it myself though.. lobster bisque.. anyone?..

Too bad you dont have a fahaka puffer because that thing would be perfect for him. I would just feed the softer parts to the congo rather then the hard claws, imo.

I agree just feed the meat, smash it out of the claws etc before feeding was what I meant. But make the most of it, don't be too wasteful

I went to the market in Swansea this morning and came back with a whole squid lol, luckily they did cut it up for me. I don't really eat seafood and was taken back by all the stuff they had, like king tiger prawns(they were huge) and one stall had live crabs, which I wanted to buy so I could release them back to the sea( unfortunately they were too expensive and my hubby said no ) Mmmmmm.....I really like the fahaka puffer, wonder if I'd get away with telling hubby I had a mutant dp

The congo is built like my arrowhead so it should be able to crunch most of the langoustine up. Mine likes to eat full crabs, There not massive crabs about 3 inches but the shells are harder then that langoustine by the looks of it.

Thought I'd have a search on YouTube to see and found this
And there was the one with the crab that grabbed the Congo puffers face and made him puff up lol(think its been posted on here before) that always makes me laugh
