Well this was the thing I was waiting to see if Misery (my red Congo) would eat live small earthworms. Second worm today and he sucked it down. I know some of you might not see this exciting but this means it will help me from not having to feed him live store bought feeder fish anymore. Plus it would help out in the winter. Might even try frozen krill. If he does not like the krill then I will just remove it from his tank.

Well done misery I've just bought Jagger a scallop to try,it's the only other thing I've found that isn't precooked

Im just going to keep him on live worms and maybe try him some frozen krill for addictional nutrition PLUS a natural color enhancer. He is like a lil dog waiting for food to be dropped into his tank and very active. Swims around more then he buries himself.

Try some frozen krill that you buy from a lfs.

Doesn't krill cause lockjaw in puffers?

Yup, Krill is like crack for a puffer and not only will it be harder to get the puffer to eat other foods but, it also causes lockjaw.

should be only be given very rarely as a treat.

Yeah people speaks of krill cause lockjaw but I never had one puffer ever to get lockjaw from krill. Btw congo puffers dont need that extra crunchy food like other puffer species do. They eat mainly small live soft fishes, FW soft shrimp, and worms. So giving them a highly nutritious food like krill and their normal diet wont hurt, imo. But I will agree, krill is like crack to puffers but I never had problems feeding any of my puffers other foods other then krill. I guess I always had lil hogs that would eat anything. Only once did I have a puffer that would only eat krill but could not get him eatin nothing but krill. I guess he was being feed only krill at the lfs that I bought it from.

Yep, true and well said. But not saying that krill does not or could not cause lockjaw. Eventhough it sounded like I was saying that...lol But I never krill any problems in any of my puffers.
