Interesting Fact About GF

I thought these white spots on Francis was something bacterial. I found out something very interesting about goldfish today:

"In general, these white fuzzy stuffs are excess fatty issue that they stored for winter as they will not be eating in cold weather outdoor when the water temperature is below 50 degree in winter. But when spring comes the water starts warming up so they try to get rid of this excessive stuff by oozing them out the head. I knew you kept the fish in the tank with constant temperature but the fish is just acting as in a natural environment."

No, RTR, those are much smaller (less white) bumps on him. Those do look more like ich than these & I would have assumed it was ich, if they hadn't informed me that's how they sexed him as a male. These white blobs came out on him a couple of months ago. I did think it was odd that they occurred in the folds of his head but more recently, on the edges of his gill plates. The breeder knew exactly what it was. Sure looked fungal... I can't tell you how relieved I am that they're not!

Yup - it would make me very nervous as well. I do not remember seeing that, thank goodness.
