I went to clean my puffers tank about an hour ago, while I was cleaning the glass I noticed these things wriggling!!!

took a closer look and they are baby fish. Now I know they're not from my Congo, but he lives alone(apart from 2 pest snails that are multiplying fast) so where did they come from? I've already interrogated my husband just in case he put them in there, it being the first of April. But he says he values his life too much to mess with my tanks
I'm totally confused as to where they have appeared from
Am even more confused now I've read it after posting

how long has the tank been established? You have to be a tad more specific than "baby slimy wet thing" LOL!!
are we talking worms? or snails?

I've bought a breeding net so am gonna catch them and hopefully see what they are as they grow. The last thing I added to my tank was some drift wood with plants attached, could some eggs have been on the plants? If so they must be really hardy as it was sat in a bucket for a while

i can barely make it out, but to me it looks like a baby guppy. have you gotten any new plants or anything recently? maybe a hitch hiker?

Yeah, they are almost see through. I got the drift wood with plants on it, but it sat in a bucket of water for a while as I didn't have time to put it in the tank. That's what makes me think eggs and aren't guppies live bearers?
I counted 8 of them that I've put in the breeding net, so am really excited to see what they are in a few months.

Looks like some type of fry. Could have been a hitch hiker, imo. Guupy fry are extremely hardy and it could have been in the log or plants. Or it could have been hatched from an egg from some kind of egg layer. Was there any fish in the tank where you bought the log? I bet it was from the place that you bought that log. Btw, your Congo eatin live river shrimp?

How Ironic as I have noticed some guppy fry living with my GSP's today. (I had fed them live ghost/river shrimp last week so I suspect the fry were hitchhikers)
