I was given a CPR Bak-pak SR2 SUMP model skimmer, brand new, as a gift. I was wondering how i could "rig" this into an HOB skimmer. I thought about getting some acrylic pieces and using silicone to stick them into place to seal off the open water output. Any ideas would be appreciated! Here's a picture for reference.

For any of those following this thread.. Here's a picture of the "rigged" skimmer. Waiting for the silicone to cure before i test it.

Failed attempt. Skimmer overflows. Need to make the output hole a few inches lower.

The acela pump in where the water goes in, and the spot where you have the PVC should be where your water comes out. I would maybe make it bigger than 3/4"? I know the outflows on mine are like 1.5" or so. Not sure if that helps, but it may help overflow. Also, I wouldn't make it super long with the filter intake on it. I would just leave it short and stout like you see on the HOB model

I'm visiting another local reefer tomorrow though and i'm gonna trade my skimmer for a good HOB version. Also gonna see what goodies i can pick up for my tank. =D

Hehe cool! LoL I just spent my fish budget for the next two months: on food and new tank for Luau hehe. No more goodies for me = / .....at least not until May..muahahaha

Got my new skimmer. Had to clean it up a bit but it's working great. Red Sea Prizm.

You may regret getting the prizm, I think many others have had issues with them.

Hey, I have a older model cpr duel bak pak HOB and these skimmers are awesome compare to my Seaclone skimmer and other skimmers that I have used in the past. You should have kept that bak pak and just used it the way you wanted to.

Bowling Green

Near Owensboro here. Around a 45 minute drive West from Bowling Green. Btw, I been looking for a good fishshopthat carries good looking saltwater fish. I here there is a good one down there. I forget the name of it though.

I hear The Fish Doctor in OB is good but haven't been there personally. Fishey Business here in BG is good but a little pricey since they control the market. They get shipments on Thursday and Friday if you're going to make a trip down sometime.
