Hi there,
My wife and I picked up a Fahaka Puffer fish from a store today. It's already a good 4 inches in length. He hated being in the plastic bag at the top of the aquarium as we let him adjust to the water. He was furiously trying to fight his way through the bag into the aquarium, biting and all. A few hours later, he seems to have found his favorite spot, and I already enticed him to munch on some shrimp!
This is our first puffer fish and we love him already. I did pay $69.99 for him though, which I think is high, but he was the ONLY puffer fish they had in stock so we took him
Great forum you have here, I will learn lots.
Dustin

Hello and welcome to the forum. Have you his tank all set up and ready to go?

Yes but I now know that the tank is quite small for him, so we have plans to upgrade as soon as possible.

And I thought $10.99 was too much for a lone scrawny 1.5" figure 8 that I saw in the LFS.

I'm sure he'll give you many years of joy!
How large is his home now? How was it cycled?

We have had the tank going for some time with 4 tiger barbs and an I.D. shark. About a week ago we did a half water change while we cleaned the tank. This week after the holiday (It is Family Day here in Ontario tomorrow) I am going to grab a water testing kit. Interesting note about Family Day, it is the day of the year with the highest rate of family men being arrested for disorderly conduct.
Yes I know I paid way too much for him but what can you do.. He seems super happy however we are already planning our larger tank. The tank will wait a little bit though because we are in the process of looking to buy our first house!

Hello. Start browsing craigslist for good deals on large tanks. There is a craigslist for Canada, right?

good morning!! Welcome to the forum! I am from East York but grew up in Scarborough. Not too many people here from the GTA.
Forget about the price of the fish... just focus on the keeping of him / her comfortable.
