Bitten....

Anyone who has had animals companions has most likely been bitten before. What was your worst bite? Mine, I count 3. An african rock python, a pac-man frog & a degu. The degu I tore off my finger & came close to spiking him like a football...in front of a horrified family whom I was showing how sweet of an animal they are.

i had an african rock python bite me. a smaller one though, did hurt a bit and drew blood. an umbrella cockatoo and an african grey got me when i was cleaning their cages, both the snake and the birds were while i was working at a pet store. bit by dogs two separate occasions,a german shephard and a boxer who was super protective over women and was intimidating my girlfriend by putting his front paws on her lap(he was being friendly to her), note that she is weary of larger dogs so she wasnt sure what to make of the situation. so i gently tried to move his paws off her and even though the dog knew me very well its just how he was with women. he put a hole through my thumb nail. thats all i can really recall right now, im sure there have been a few more less serious ones

not a bite, but i had a hermit crab pinch onto my palm and my mom had to pry him off with a pen.

oh! bite would be the first cockatiel i had (she died in 2010). she was mean when i first got her in 2000 and would always bite my fingers where the side of the nail meets the skin. i swear birds know thats where it hurts the most! no wait, the first time i held a scarlet macaw, he bit the back of my hand and drew blood. i still dont trust those kinds of macaws.

I have so many bites from dog grooming and working at a vet, so I can't name them all, but my hands have numerous scars. At petsmart and petco, you get all the dogs that no one else will do, and we have no choice to do them. Two bites are memorable:

1. Grooming a silky right before a super expensive company dinner, a grand opening dinner, $500 a plate, and the damn dog bit me thru my thumb. Had to go to the hospital, make sure nothing needed stitches (was lucky he only got skin) and then had to go to dinner in my grooming clothes, with this HUGE wrap on my thumb. Let's just say it was super embarrassing.

2. Had another dog I was grooming that was doing fine and then all the sudden while blow drying her, went ballistic, snapping, biting, growling, almost flipping, and her teeth were everywhere. She ended up biting me in my face, and one of her canines punched my nose piercing through my nose. I ended up having to get a pair of clamps to finish pulling it out all the way (the jewel was stuck in between the inner and outer part of my skin). Had to pull it through my nose because it hurt too bad to push it out again.

So, it wasn't necessarily the bites that were scary, it was the situations LOL. Nose ended up being re-pierced after it fully healed and thumb is ok, although my hands have scars everywhere.

LOL it does, and NTY!!! I love cats, but, hmmm, not so much when you are trying to put a loud vibrating pair of clippers on them and certainly not when you try to put them in water.

i read that some species of cats love water. id love to see that!

Not exactly bit... you're right. It used the spikes on its arms to tear up the flesh on my hand. Think I need another thread: pets that hit you... totally new meaning of domestic violence.

Oh, but a spider has bitten me. It wasn't a pet, though, I guess... at least not mine.

Just because there isn't lots of blood doesn't mean the bite(s) aren't horrendous.
