My 2inch green spotted puffer seems to be depressed. Lost my little baby spotted puffer to my intake from my filter he has been hiding all day. sometimes, it takes me a good 5 minutes to find him. (pretty sure he likes the new tank set up, but i dont) He did not come out and eat brine shrimp like he normally does. he ate a bit but did not get much of a belly. Once the lights turned off, he did come out and roan. I gave him a little bit of bloodworms because i know my f8 doesnt like them and he could just eat it all. He lost some color today but once the lights came back on he was fine. He is somewhat of a drama queen most of the time so not sure if he just had an off today or what.

Fish don't get depressed.

i figured they couldnt (cancels order for paxil) but any idea why he is acting this way?

but they go on hunger strikes..i would think that they could get depressed. poor lil guy

Probably feeling stressed and less secure due to the recent changes. Give it time, he'll come back.

All pets are basically prisoners, so think of it like that. Cat people be silent....

some good news! he is back to normal and better. I have been some troubles with him having stress lies. Yesterday they were darker than normal. Today he has none at all! I did a 50% water change yesterday and raised my tank from 1.002 to 1.003. He must be liking it because no more lines and color is popping out even more. Even stopped glass surfing. All the bad and hard work can pay off in the smallest forms and make it all worth it.

Puffers are solitary fish so the loss of a tankmate really wouldn't cause "depression" as we would define it. They have changes in behavior due to changes in environment and for your GSP the removal of a tankmate was a big change.
