Hey guys

I know this uis prob a stupid Q but it's been a while since I bought sand. Is this sand below ok for SW tanks and is it the right sized grain?

Personal preference i like the crushed coral gravel depends what u Want to keep also

I'm getting a goby and pistol shrimp that live together in a shell at the LFS. I want a deeper sand bed so they can borrow

I had a few pistol shrimps one had a burrow right at the front of my tank used to see it all the time

Crushed coral is the absolute WORST substrate you can have in a tank. You want your sand to become stocked full of live creatures. The size of CC can easily trap detritus & cause serious nitrate problems.

I never mentioned a deep bed i prefer it and was recomended it by the shop i bought all my marine stuff from he was very experienced reef keeper who helped me set up my tank and i was getting near perfect water quality with only monthly 20% water changes

CC is definitely not a long-term solution in any reef tank. It's an accident waiting to happen. None of those detritus-eating animals that keep a sandbed clean will live in there. Live sand beds are self-cleaning.

PP what's the name of the sand I should buy, would just plain white sand that I used in my FW Fahaka tank be ok?

I like Southdown sand. See if you can find a local reefer taking down their tank. chock full of good critters in there!
