can I get by on feeding a congo worms only or do I have to feed shelled foods too?

You could try fiddler crabs too.

I mean is it a must like it is for other puffers or can I feed them NOTHING but worms and the occasional guppy?

ALL puffers need some crunch in their diet but I do feed my Congo earthworms, 90% of the time.

so the rare treat of a shrimp like once a month or less would do?

treat of snails would be better, shrimp aren't that crunchy.

If you can get the puffer off live foods & onto dead (like shrimp), you're lucky & definitely should give it a go.

I meant live ghost shrimp but I guess I have the patience to dangle shrimp with a piece of string to get it to eat.

If you're gonna feed ghost shrimp you should gut load them first. Ghost Shrimp by themselves are tasty but not that nutritious.

I'd say focus on your grades for now. It'd really suck to do all this planning and then end up down by a mark or two and not be able to get your puffer. Focus on school now and in the future you'll be able to get a great job and afford lots of puffers and their needs.
