i am looking at making some fish food for my guys. would like to be able to mix what they need so they get a bit of everything. plan to blend up the food and then mix it with gelatine to make little cubes of it.
not sure on what to use as meat. I plan to mix meat, hikari sinking pellets (they will not eat ), some algea wafer to get some vegie into their diet and maybe even some krill. as anyone tried this?

For puffers?

If u do this, u would be missing out all the fun part.. understand that u wan them to have a good source of everything but it would be like u eating something out of the blender.. I would love to be able to see what I eat though.. IMO.

If you blend up a good roast it would not be the same. Stronger flavours overpower taking away the variety

Fish do have taste receptors, and like most critter have flavor and texture preferences.

Puffer also tend to have a non-trivial requirement for "crunch" which is not going to be filled by any gelatin.

No I dun, unless u do. Maybe U have to see feathers on it then U know its chicken.

I think you got the recipe from snail jello no? I don't think anyone has designed a "puffer jello" as of yet. But RTR is correct, there should be some "crunch" value to it unless it is used as an occasional snack only. That is really the only way you're going to keep their teeth in check.

For the others:
A funny / sad anecdote from my sister.. She came to our house a couple years ago and saw one of the tanks. She asked why there were ants in the tank. I said they were shrimp. She was so surprised. "The only shrimp I know are those little curly things hanging from a glass."

I will. I am not planning to get a BS from someone.

I could mildly blend up the pellets for the crunch. i still plan to give them snails for their teeth.

I used to make my own snail jello and shrimp foods. It got to be a pain so I went with commercial specialized foods. I found It was too time consuming.

He portions his out... I went to the dollar store and used ice cube trays. It is basically a really OLD recipe. The other comment I have on the video, is that he uses tap water. I wouldn't do that now (as I am not on a well anymore) but use tank water.

I'd say try it out for a weekly treat. It is certainly a learning experience. Drop the krill though and go with prawn. Just keep in mind that it is a treat and not a staple. It is a lot of work and frozen clams and mussels are much less hassle.
