Hi!
I have two green puffer fish. I purchased these fish from Walmart, not knowing anything about them. I came home and googled them, boy was I surprized!! I made a trip out of town to get them some frozen bloodworms, but they did not have any feeder snails. Where can I buy feeder snails? Thanks!

LFS gives me them for free, I just come in with a container and pick them out of his tanks. I keep them in a 6g tank hoping I can get them to mate, so I can have my own food supply, but no luck yet.

Same here, visited my local Petsmart and let me tell you, they had a LOT of snails. I got them for free

like always. Some times they are given me "the look" but most of the time there is no problem.

pond snails and ramshorns are the best and easiest to breed. trumpet snails and nerites may have shells that are too tough for the puffers to break when they are larger.

I was lucky with one of my visits to a LFS...I went to get some MTS - the only snail they have (i'd crush them up since they are so hard). I came home and saw a different snail in the lot - it looked dead...thankfully I have high hopes for the impossible and left it in a bowl with water, a few hours later I came in to check and it had moved!!! That was October last year.. now I have 3 of it's offspring that have laid almost 40 patches of eggs all over the bowl I keep them in. Can't wait to have a large population of snails to choose from for my puffs. I may even have to ask my bro-in-law for my 5gal tank back if they overpopulate the little fish bowl I have them in for now. Perhaps I can start my own snail service..hahaha.

Rule of thumb is as big as the puffer's eye but you can crush them.
