About 2 months ago at work we were made to take a large portion of our lighting fixtures out. They've been gathering dust in the back room so i talked to my boss and walked away with this bad boy. It WAS wired into a switch made only for specific mounting fixtures but with 2 tools it's now hardwired and can be plugged right into my timer. It holds 2 18 inch PC bulbs. Here are some pics. Tell me what you guys think. I, personally, am so happy about it! =D

Pretty sweet, if you can, remove the cross bars, they are designed to refract the light in directions other than down. Also, cover your bare wires.

Oh, i plan on capping the bare wires and putting them in the fixture. That was just to make sure it worked. lol

I'll pull out the dremel later and cut off those cross bars. The bulbs in the fixture right now are just regular lights. I'm thinking about picking up a 10k and actinic bulb

It really is pretty sweet

I'm hoping we get the go ahead to throw the rest out. If we do, i'm coming home with around 15 of those. haha. I'll be giving away/trading the rest.

And what is the length of the fixture?

IF i can get them, i would probably give them free to a few people on here (shipping covered though). Measurements are 18 inches long, 5 3/4 front to back and 4 inches high. The bulbs are roughly 16 inches long each. The ballast and everything is located waterproof in the top of the fixture behind the reflector.

Here's a picture of the light with the mounting arm attached. You could remove the plastic box and mount it to a canopy or other fixture if you wanted.

That is so neato, I'm definitely interested if you can get the rest, and I'll pay for shipping of course.

Is that 16" without the pins? Are they square? I'm looking at bulbs and found a 36 watt, but it's saying it's 17.9", and a square pin 40 watt is 16.75".

I didn't measure the bulbs outside of the fixture, just a rough guesstimate. There are 4 pins per light, rounded.

Both 16 inch.

I'm sure the 17 inch bulbs would work too. There's still a good amount of space between the bulbs and the side of the fixture itself.

Do you have any freshwater tanks? I have some Amazon Swords in quarantine that may be ready soon fire trade.
