Quetions on water ,aclimating ,also salt

I'm going to drip aclimat my green spotted puffer when I get it but how long should I do this for? And it's going to be brakish till he grows a bit but what should I start the salinity at? One more question what salt should I use like what brand and kind becuse they have diffrent types

why are you going brackish instead of full marine? also you don't need to aclimate too much maybe 2 hrs from fresh to full marine, GSPs swim through estuaries which have fresh mixing with seawater. Honestly, i just dropped mine in after temperature acclimating for about 30 min and had no issues. as long as the salt is phosphate and silicate free it should be fine. most people use instant ocean because it is available everywhere and is pretty cheap.

oh really i just didn't want him to be shocked from the salt. wow that makes it a lot easier

I would go full marine personally it's cheaper in the long run. Drip acclimatise for 4-5 hours total as not to shock too much. Maintain tank temperature throughout
