Is there anything at all i can keep with my arrowhead exept snails. I don't think he will eat snails and don't want them to breed. Is there any fish known to be ok with the suvattii? He is great but it would be nice to get some more use out of the tank seen as he chills alot in the sand like lurkers do. It's hard because he eats crabs and guppies every now and then. I would like some shrimp but i know they will get eaten. Heres suvatti chilling. ANY IDEAS?

Absolutely NO fish! I tried a pleco & the next morning all that was left was the skull.

Some fish are rather broad-spectrum predators, and the lurker puffers seem to fit that role. There are many fish which are best as singletons.

Personally I have never considered it a waste of a tank to keep singletons. I do consider most so-called "community" tanks to be a terrible wastes of the tank and the fish housed there however. Not many fish will show their real nature in mixed tanks, and most fish lived quite short and un-natural lives in such set-ups. Try instead setting a species tank or two - you may learn a lot more about how fish really should be housed and managed in captivity.

It's 100% not a watse of the tank i much prefer him to the four dwarf puffers i had for a year. He sits in the sand alot but he does loads of great stuff and i could probley stoke him. Not that i will try that lol. I much prefer having just one chilled out puffer then a tank full of inbred coulourful fish. I think the best option is to get a few large snails to help clean up. Apple snails don't breed quick do they? cheers

go nerites, they don't reproduce in freshwater at all.

Got 4 apple snails all where injured and dying by next morning all 4 are dead. This means theres nothing at all i can ever keep with him.

Add some snails and dwarf shrimp to his tank every 1-2 times per week. Keeps your arrowhead busy

Oh he'll eat snails I don't know that I'd go with nerites as they have really hard shells and the puffer can break their teeth on them (same with malaysian trumpet snails).

Apple snails, yes, obviously the puffer will bite chunks out of them and torture them to death. Anything you put in there that moves is potential food with lurker species.

yeah he likes everything. Glad he doesn't go for my hands.

My red miurus was a hand-biter.

Bubba (turgidus) will not bite me unless I annoy him, such as if I wave a piece of shrimp in his face when he's not hungry. Then he'll swim around the shrimp and very deliberately bite my hand.

Oh, he can't resist nail polish though..
