hi, im new to the forum but i just had a question that ive been needing an answer 2 so if anyone could help it would be very appreciated, i bought my mbu puffer from Forest lale pets 2 days ago and it was swimming around in there tak very lively and i brought in a waer sample and my ph was the same as it was in there tank and my nitrite/nitarte and ammon ia levels were perfect i acclimated him for about an hour then released him but he just sunk to bottom and has been sittin on the bottom since i got him ive seen him swim around a little bit once i turn the lights off.. but hes been eating krill likes its going out of style, im just wondering how long it takes them to get use to there new tank , he went from a 20 gallon to 125gl and i think he is just stressed... any Ideas

im not an expert but from reading posts on the forum alot of people say to stay away from feeding krill as it causes lock jaw, but as for the other issues it is most likely stress and getting use to his/her new home but posting actual water perameters is always helpful

He's just stress. Mine took Ard a week for him to start exploring the tank. When he's new, he just stay at a corner too. How big is he? Hope u have plans to upgrade. We love pics!

What's the temp?
Is there plenty of decor for him to feel safe?
What are your plans for upgrading?

the temp is at 78 degrees there is a large driftwood centerpeice,5 plants scattered around ands rocks everywhere, hes about 4-5 inches. im planning on getting a 180-200 gallon tank in about a year or so especially cause im getting a motoro ray in a week and he will be about 5 inches when i get him, what food would you recommend for a puffer his size?

Dun.. sound like a disaster imo.. its either one gets eaten or the other gets stung.. both have the potential to grow HUGE. Even at 200g, it will not be able to support them both. Fyi, I got mine when its ard 4-5in. Ever since, hes growing at ard 1in/ mth and at close to 10in now. U do the maths.. I have to admit that my tank is at ard 210g, which is not ideal to support him either.

scpion, are you planning on upgrading?

what size tank would you recommend for those 2 to live comfortably, and yes i am planning on upgrading i just dont know how big of a tank to get and i dont plan on getting a bigger tank for about a year considering that there both 4-5 inches, what food/foods would you recommend for a puffer his size

To be very, I hope I can. But in reality.. I live in a public housing call a HDB. Or some of u guys woyld call it a pigeon hole.. and there are very strict rules. By right, the max allowed is a single tier 4ft and approval have to be obtained. He's already now in a 5x2x2 with a fuge bottom tier. and housing are darn darn ex here.. I unless I strike toto, very likely I will be writing a sad sad story at the end of the day..

thanks for all the insight, it will help greatly im going to go pick up snails and other kinds of food for him 2morrow and probably a few more plants also, and start checking out bigger tanks for the near future

yea .. krill is the "crack" of the puffer world. It is best to avoid it. There are many many other better choices out there.

Quick question. When we say krill, are we talking abt frozen or freeze dried.. Or they both have the same effect? Krill seems to be one of the fundamental food source for small marine animals in the wild.
