Cloudy water

I'm in the process of mixing 10g of saltwater using Instant Ocean marine salt. The water has been mixing for over 24 hours but it's still a little cloudy. I've been checking the bottom of the container and there's no salt gathered on the bottom. I don't have a powerhead in the tank (since i have none to spare) so instead of i put in a power filter which seems to be circulating the water just fine. Any idea what the problem is?

Is the water heated?

I will clear in time, the more it circulates the faster it will clear. in the future you want to mix the salt in after you fill your container with water, for some reason that prevents a lot of the cloudiness.

The water is heated, yes.
I mix the salt after i fill the container. I don't just dump it in either. I sprinkle it in around the whole container than slosh it around a buuuunch with the measuring cup.

LoL try something like:

I use one of these to mix right after I dump my salt in a bucket. Then I stick a bubbler in over night and it seems to work perfectly. But that turner works excellently LoL

I use my glass scrubber brush to make a mini vortex in the bucket then drop the salt in. it's usually clear by morning.

So, this water has pretty much turned the water in my tank green. Hardness was waaaay up. Just did a 15% WC and no change in color and now i'm out of tests. I'll go to my LFS tomorrow and get the water tested.

I'm assuming i just had an explosion of algae from what i've looked up. Nothing bad, just very unsightly.

Totally normal for a new-ish SW tank.

Totally normal for a new-ish SW tank. Mine's going through that right now, even though all I did was move everything to another tank.
