Re: NEW SERVER--We need YOUR Help!--UPDATE
Not really... nothing gets done. I just pray we never get hacked or crash. I do change the captcha when a spammer gets in & check for spamming emails for a while after. This forum was set up by a nice fellow in China. He modified the code so much, nobody else can upgrade it.

Re: NEW SERVER--We need YOUR Help!--UPDATE
LOL! After I left the labs, I worked as a consultant project manager ($$$) but I never, ever touched the code - I just coordinated the folks who did and could - which is not helpful at all here. My very best coder wrote spaghetti code, but the users loved his stuff - everything looked so simple and straight-forward on-screen that we got thanks and gratitude, except when somebody had to go in and modify the code . . . high blood pressure and screams over the phones and e-mail. You have to keep the users happy, even if the development team gets ulcers.

Hm...not sure what I'm doing wrong. I use my Paypal account to make other payments.Pufferpunk wrote:I clicked on the donation button on our Homepage & it worked. Support dropdown worked for me, too.
Thanks in advance!
I just tried again and got the same message. Here's a screenshot:
Advice appreciated.

Re: NEW SERVER--We need YOUR Help!--UPDATE
To be honest, the upgrade wasn't extremely difficult. The forum was down for a day because I removed the database tables that were added with all of the modifications expecting to go ahead with the upgrade and then I ran into an issue with the library. I couldn't find the admin directory and ended up accidentally deleting it. The library runs on wordpress and the forum runs on phpbb. wp-united, a bridge used to be installed before the upgrade and the library was located at /forum/library/. I expected the admin directory to be there, but it wasn't. The version of wordpress the site was running on was very old and I wasn't completley sure what version it was. I decided not to try to put back the old admin files because I wasn't sure what version of WP the library was running. I decided to do a fresh install of the latest version of wordpress and import the database from the library. I ran into some issues changing the directory wordpress was installed in, but I resolved those by running a few database queries in phpmyadmin. Then I ran the wordpress database update script to update the database from the old version of wordpress to the newest version. It worked and the library is now running the latest version of wordpress. After getting the library sorted out, I went ahead with the forum upgrade. I deleted a lot of the old phpbb files and then replaced them with the new phpbb files and then ran the database upgrade script. We upgraded from phpbb 3.0 to 3.1 and it is a major improvement. We will be upgrading to phpbb 3.2 when it gets released.

Re: NEW SERVER--We need YOUR Help!--UPDATE
Can the Library be made more user-friendly, by dividing it back up into sections?

Re: NEW SERVER--We need YOUR Help!--UPDATE
I couldn't read library articles before unless someone (usually Pufferpunk) posted a direct link to a particular article.
Now I have direct access to the Library articles myself. THANKS!!
