If I put a small yellow tail damsel in my 20g tank with a 1 and 1/2 inch long GSP is it basically a guarentee that the puffer will attack/eat him? Or is there a chance they just won't bother each other

Too small of a tank to consider any tankmates.

So that's a yes on the puffer eating the damsel? lol

Its a yes that the damsel is at risk of being eaten, but the bigger problem is the limited tank space.

20 gallons is not enough for the puffer on his own, dont add another fish to that tank

In a larger system, it should work. Damsels are schooling fish.

If the tank was larger it might work out, but in such a confined space that damsel is pretty much doomed. You should really upgrade to a 40 or 55 gallon if you want to keep a GSP with tankmates.

55g with tank mates. Especially schooling ones.

I have 2 gsp in my tank with my Yellow tail. The tank is 29gal and I've had no problems for the 2 months they've all been in there. However, I am going to put them in a larger tank as soon as it's ready.
