I went to pick up my liverock score today, but it was all sitting in a bucket with no water(the guy who sold it to me decided to be "helpful" and pull it out of the tank for me) So the live rock is dead. I'm pretty sure that's an ok thing based on the look of the tank; I have no doubt there were plenty of pests on the rock. My question is how can I make sure everything is dead before i start to try to clean it, or do i need to?

Google how to cure live rock, not everything will be dead, it just needs to be cured.

How long was it out of water? The good bacteria & many of the creatures are still deep inside the rock. Is it in SW now? It'll just need to be cured, is all.

Rock shipped from overseas may be out of the water that long. Put into your tank or cure in a bucket. Look up: Curing Live Rock.
