I took down my 40g cube tank over the summer, because it was getting overrun with tulip anemones, red turf algae & just totally crappy-looking in general. My Peacock mantis died over the storm & electrical failure we had, as did my stunning peach tube anemone--the main reasons I was keeping this tank running. Also, the pump broke for the Backpac skimmer. I left the LR out in the sun & weather all winter & it's stark white now. I've been torn about whether to start up another reef tank, make it a FOWLR & add something cool like a frogfish or go FW. I really miss keeping calico orandas! So I'm gonna set up a tank just for them & add my red-finned pleco in with them. I'm willing to pay good $$$ for some really spectacular ones, so if anyone sees any...

Also, this tank is in a corner below 2 windows so it's the coolest spot in the house. I am confused about what bulbs to get for best colors though. I'm looking to get a T5.

Are you comfortable with a sucker-mouth cat with a goldfish? I am chicken to do that - even though I do feed my sucke-rmoths pretty well, especially the known higher-protein ones.

my mother keep a fancy with a pleco. The pleco does harass the GF on a fairly consistent basis but it is a VERY small tank.

PP gets away with some things that I cannot do - such as tankmates with a Fahaka.

When I kept GF, I could not use sucker-mouth cats. Even aside from the slime-sucking, they are just too messy.

My experience has been the same -- the plecos always ended up sucking the slime off the goldfish, or nibbling fins. I'm of the opinion that the only good tankmates for goldfish are other goldfish. But as RTR said, PP has magical ways with fish sometimes.

Please do! I found some wonderful specimens in Singapore/Thailand but I'd love if I didn't have to pay all that shipping. I'm absolutely with the bulky, square bodies those fish have!

i personally dont see the appeal of the GF. than again, ive never owned them. I just find them to be such a standard fish...

They're one of the most genetically diverse varieties of fish on earth, thanks to human intervention. The variations are almost endless -- check out http://www.goldfishsociety.org/showentries.html for just a taste of fancy show goldfish. These are not your typical LFS goldfish, I assure you.

I love my goldies, even though they are the standard type. Had them when i was younger they now thrive in a pond, i love them so much their vast pond at the inlaws has heating so they dont suffer in our poor winters

I have been trying to convince the fiance (with no luck) that I absolutely need another 20 gallon, so I can get a goldfish. Black moors are my favorite, love their googley eyes, haha.

Look into the Panda telescopes.
