Spare a Thought for a Very Sick F8?

My two juvenile F8s weren't getting along very well in their 29 gallon tank (one of them is VERY dominant, and making the other one miserable). When I made the decision to rehome one, I offered him to TPF member goldielocke, who has been having tremendous difficulty locating a young, small F8 in her area. She happily accepted.

I shipped the puff overnight delivery yesterday, and even though I worked super-hard on packing him safely, or at least what I thought was safely, something went wrong and his water totally leaked and goldielocke now has a barely-alive F8 that she's trying to revive. I've received fancy goldfish via express delivery before and thought that I'd packed him well.

If you guys wanted to send some positive puffer vibes out to goldielocke and "Luau," it would be much appreciated. It's killing me to think that my ineptitude caused suffering and possibly his death. I'm just heartsick over this.

Not much you can do but keep him comfortable & lights off, with good aeration.

Well, I turned off the lights, and will plug air in in a minute...I have a goldfish in there I need to get out = / I "rented" one from the LFS to keep my tank from "un-cycling" (I know that isn't what it's called, but after the tank was cycled, he was the only source of ammonia that was in there) and he's being a bully. OMG. Almost there. Luau is now pacing, I hope that is a good sign. Keep telling myself, work now, cry later LoL

Adding your puffer to a tank that is being held cycled by a fish you haven't removed, is like adding it to an uncycled tank. There is only enough bacteria to support the GF.

Goldfish is coming out. I wanted to get him out of there before I put in Luau, but under the circumstances, I was left with very little choice. He was sitting in a tupperware of water from Jack in the Box = / un-cycled and untreated. I am working on getting him, he just has lots of hiding spaces. Sorry sorry sorry, I am doing my best so he survives.
