HI everyone i have 2 small cyelon puffers about 1" 1.5" i know they are brackish puffer and i feel bad keeping them in 100% fresh water. so my question is when should/can i start to raise the salinity?

When your tank, if it isn't right now, stable with its parameters. If newly cycled, wait at least a week or so. Start raising the SG by 0.002 a week.

+1 to seven's remarks, with one minor correction - the amount of specific gravity change per week is correctly written as 0.002 per week.

okay so my tank is fully cycled i just wanted to make sure i wasnt adding salt to early

: ) okay let the fun begin! so i got a bucket of Instant Ocean sea salt and i know to start at 0.002 per week but hydrometer doesnt read that low i have a 20gallon tank and im struggling to figure out how much salt to add to get it around 0.002

Order one online. You can't do this process effectively without an accurate measurement.

+1 if your measurements are out you could risk damaging the bacteria in your tank, which will put you back to square one.

okay so right my my SG 1.000 and salinity 0 acording to what i have read viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19348 if i do a 50% waterchange with water at 1.004 SG it will raise my SG to 1.002? plz let me know if im right or wrong

That is correct, assuming your readings are accurate.

And also assuming that your 50-% partial volumes are accurate.
