Odyssea skimmer

I just thought I would put this out there to those who wanted to know. I bought the odssea ps 75 from Aquatraders.com for super cheap as an introductory skimmer. I have wasted my money. It took a week to break in which is expected but after the break in period it has only ever produced very wet skimmate. I have spent more time tuning this thing than I have spent looking at my tank. It has been running for about 6 weeks now and has gotten to the point where it no longer does anything. It won't create foam all day but then it suddenly floods for no apparent reason. Additionally, it is extremely loud. The pump seems pretty quiet but as soon as I open the air valve on the ventruri line it just starts screaming. This is the worst thing I have ever owned, and I have a lot of stuff from the dollar store and harbor freight. I just ordered a Bak Pak 2r based on the reviews and opinions on this site hopefully I'll have better luck this time.

Did it have the Engrish fail instructions?

I wish, that would have made it at least entertaining. no instructions at all. I'm going to use it to make one of these. http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/diyden ... nitrat.htm
So I guess it's not a total loss.

got the bak pak in today. it is already skimming better than the odssea ever did. It's half as loud and is ever so easy to tune. :D

returns are a no go, it was only $30 but so was the shipping (hazards of living in North Pole). anyway, the acrylic is nice i so i'm sure i can find a way to mod it and make a reactor or something out of it.

the pump for it is rated 250 gph, but that's probably an exaggeration, is it too much for my 29gal if i just use it to create flow?
