hello there after losing my beloved mbu puffer i vowed i would never get another but ive been offer a humpback puffer can anyone give me some info please ie feeding tankmates etc etc
i have a 800lts tank spare would this be ok??

I've seen several in my area in the last few months. They literally do not move at all. All the lfs try to leave feeder fish in the tank in hopes for them to eat it. I've seen some that are 4" and some that are 7-8". They have an interesting pattern on their back.

Palembang's puffers do move regularly and routinely, but they are lurkers, not active hunter-predators so do move as much or as often as the active hunters. They should have at least a couple of caves/overhangs where they can hide (be in shade/shadows), preferably where you can see them. The tank should be planted (live is best if you have any experience with plants, artificial will do if not). There should be plenty of spacing between the plant stems so they can move around easily between them, but with enough shade for them to feel secure. Unlike the other lurkers, they seem to not bury themselves but rely on their coloring and markings to make them appear rock-like. They do not need the frequent feedings that the active hunters do. When small/young they can be fed alternate days, as the mature only every 3-4 days.

They do have the same requirements for high-quality water the other puffers do, so keep the ammonia and nitrite unreadable and the nitrates very low, 10ppm or less is best IME, certainly below 15ppm at all times.

Mine were fer live ghost shrimp, live Red Cherry shrimp, medium to larfish Ramshorn snail, and thawed vitamin-soaked silversides dangled from a thread (no knot on the thread, you are feeding, not fishing).

Very cool fish. Long tanks are much better than tall, they rarely swim up in the tank but stay near the substrate.

what about tankmates?

Species only with most if not all puffers I'm afraid. Very few to no exceptions long term

Yup. Puffers are not community fish.
