Zelda Passed Away. :(

Hey everyone, I am sad to announce that Zelda passed away this morning. It was a great surprise to me because she was alert and happy yesterday. When I woke up she was swimming around slowly and seemed very weak. She was so weak that she couldn't swim away from the suction of the filter and got stuck to it, I had to get her unstuck. Link was completely fine though and still is, so it wasn't anything with the water. I removed Zelda and put her in my "Hospital Tank" hoping that maybe Link was stressing her out and she just needed to chill for a while. But she died soon after. :( She was always a weak fish, I guess she just wasn't meant to live.

I'm short to hear that.
To be on the safe side for Link, could you answer the questions in red? If she had a disease, Link could be carrying it. Have you treated their food for IP's?

1) pH: 7.4
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: 10
Salinity: 1.015
Temperature: 76 F

2) The tank is 55 gallons. There was Zelda, another GSP Link, and about 4 ghost shrimp that have been there for months.

3) I feed my puffers pest snails I have bred from petco snails a while back. They sometimes nibble or even eat the flakes I put in for the shrimp. I feed them on a daily basis since they are still about an inch and a half long.

4) The only changes I've made in the past week is Monday I did a 50% water change. Nothing new to the puffs. They are used to it.

5) I set up this larger aquarium for them about 4 months ago, and cycled it using the fish-less cycling process described on this forum.

Sounds like it was just bad luck. Link will be just fine in this 55 by himself, he will be spoilt

That's what I think too. And although I am sad about Zelda passing, I am happy for Link, there will be lots of room for him to grow and be happy.

Have you treated Link for IP's?
Because they pretty much all come with them, the puffer in your avatar has a little but of a flat tummy.
If you haven't yet, soak his food in medication. Get Jungle Fizz Tabs Parasite Clear, break off a piece of the tab and drop it in smallish container, and put a small amount of tank water in it, enough to cover the food you intend to soak. Add the tabs and some pressed or chopped garlic or garlic extract. Allow the food to marinade in the solution for about an hour. Feed him like this 3 -7 days.
So sorry you lost Zelda :(

I will do that. The picture in my avatar is Link, but he was skinny when I got him, he is super fat now!
