Guys my Puffer is doing fine, and Ive opted for doing a bucket of water a day as her water change regime (its a 30 gallon tank, so its easily 50% over the week)
My question is, when you do a big change, people are saying cold water is bad for the fish, so what do you do?
Do you use warm tap water? which isnt clean?
Do you alllow singular buckets of water to warm up to room temperature, which would take hours?
??

Usually people will age the water over night in some sort of food grade bucket. Getting it to at least room temperature.

For my freshwater aquariums I know where to put the dials on the faucet for the right temperature. For my RO unit I only use cold water, but it takes half the day for a bucket to fill up, by that time its usually not that cold anymore. I've never seen the aquariums thermometer dip when changing water in any case

. Though that might change coming winter, when we get -16F around where I live. I bought a heater today to put in the bucket.

You can either let it sit overnight, or buy an extra heater and thermometer to make sure the temp is the same. This will still take time, but it's just part of winter water changes. I have to stick ice packs in my water barrel for summer water changes. The water comes out over 80°.

I age, de-chloinate, temper, and aerate all my make-up and partial water. Our supply is deep wells and is delivered at higher than usual pressures. It needs off-gassing and warming before going into the tanks. The mixture of heated and fresh tap water does vary with the seasons here.
How much are you changing daily?

Why isn't your hot water clean?
