Helllo all,

I bought myself an Abei Puffer 2 days ago after a NIGHTMARE of cycling my tank, I ended up swapping the entire filter over with my old tank, and it was cycled within about 2 hours.... So a little hint there for anyone else suffering like I did.

The people at wildwoods were sad to see my Puffer go, Im in the process of picking a name, I like Philomena Pufftini but still unsure.

Basically, She thrashed around for a little while, then calmed down, and since the first night she has sat on the sand doing very little. I gave her 2 earthworms yesterday, I thought it was taboo to find animals in the garden cause of infection etc, but the guy at wildwoods said wild caught snails and worms are fine?
Im wondering,do you think her sulky behaviour is because of having a full belly? Shes quite a big girl, about 3 or 4 inches Id say..... I'll upload a pic, but would love to hear from some other abei keepers..... It was a toss up between her and a red congo puffer, but ive had one of those before, not totally sure i made the right choice tbh :-s..... Please tell me anything helpful people

Its bad to feed animals from the wild if you know/think there has been pesticides sprayed there at any point.

As for the laying around, most puffers seem to lay around after a meal. And Abei's are more of a lurker puffer which means they arent super active

Well they were from my totally overgrown garden which certainly has no pesticides in it....

That is fine if no pesticides. You have a lovely puffer there.

She's very pretty....BUT YOU PASSED UP A RED CONGO?!?!?!!!! Lol....sorry, I really want a red Congo....

Ahhh dont mention the congo, it was £45 and tiny, I just couldnt justify it, I dunno, I thought Id see what was there on the day, but yeah it was red and cute and tiny.

Thanks guys, I have settled on the name Gabriella for her, shes a beautiful elegant young lady who appears totally unable to behave and eat like a lady.
Her danio babies are now, well, being incubated in her very round belly. Shes laying on the sand like shes gonna pop. Greedy girl. Im glad I stuck with her now and not the congo, i wanted a 'puffer' and abeis are much more puffer like..... congos are like little stones that do very little.....

My congos are always on the move...extremely active which I find odd considering most people say theirs stays buried all the time. I have a Turgidus (much like an Abei) which I am in love with. He stays in his cave a lot but I love his personality. He puffs A LOT, not sure what is up with that...but anyways, congrats again and I am happy that you are happy and giving such a lovely puff a great home!
