My Congos are starting to look alike!

I have two Congos, Bevo and P-Nut. When we got P-Nut she was very light beige. Her tank had almost white sand and as she grew she got lighter to match her sand. She was absolutely Beautiful being almost solid white. Next we brought Bevo home. He was beautiful burnt orange. His tank had a mix of black sand and red gravel. We swapped some tanks around and decided to divide a tank with glass and let them share a tank. We decided we wanted to put the black and red combo substrate throughout the tank because we wished to keep Bevo his awesome orange color. As time has gone on (roughly 2 months) we have noticed P-Nut (white one) taking on a peachy-orange tone (we expected some color change from her). Well, Bevo has lightened up somewhat and now they are almost the same color. They spend a lot of time looking at each other and usually even sleep in close proximity of each other (different sides of divider). This may sound stupid but is it possible that be spending so much time "together" they are starting to match their colors?

That's certainly interesting. I've never heard of puffers changing color like that, but then again I'm not extremely familiar with freshwater puffers. Pictures of them, if at all possible, would be nice. :)

It is nearly impossible to get good pics of them. All I have is my camera phone right now. They go nuts and won't calm down when they see me...they are very active for congos I think...lol!

My guess is they are both matching the sand...not each other.
