FW Toadfish With Eggs...Again!

Hello all. About 2 months after I purchased my 7-8" "FW" toadfish it laid about 150 large (just under pea-sized) eggs. They of course were not fertile, however, I have noticed now she is full again, even after she hasn't been fed for about a week (that induced egg production last time as well).

What do you guys think I should do? I'm not so sure adding a male would help, I know they are a little territorial. But should I happen to successfully breed these guys, I'm sure it would be a first, or close to it. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

Thanks.

Captive females dump their eggs routinely, that is not an issue for most fish.

No info on breeding possibilities, sorry.

Is there any external differences in males and females? i've been thinknig about getting one again, not that i know more about them then i did when i was 11....damn 15 years have seen a lota fish go by.

Anyhow i was just curious about that. I see five inchers from time to time and was wondering if it would be possible to try to get a pair to raise separatly until the breeding attempt is to be tried.

thanks for the info...

Jason

PS i'm also searching the net i'll see what i can find, they seem to be used a lot in medical research maybe someone has done some breeding for that.

They are really slow growers, at least from what I have seen. I have had mine for over a year and it hasn't grown much at all, maybe half an inch or so. It would be better to purchase them around the size mine is, 7-8" inches. I'm going on a search for a male though, see what happens.
