Eat, Spit Out, Eat Again

My 1.75" Modestus has been eating worms every other day. The worm fits in its mouth and he slowly bits a piece of the worm off until its completely gone.
Then when I'm not looking, he spits out everything and I see a thin belly again. Then he goes back and tries to eat the stuff he threw up.
Is this a bad thing?

My fahaka will suck in a worm and spit it out a few times before he gets it all down. I think he doesnt like the feeling of it moving inside him so he breaks it down into smaller pieces.
Your guy does eventually eat it all though right?

Yup he eats everything. if there is anything left, then I can't see it since its so small and it blends into the sand.

Normal. I have an arrowhead that eats so fast that the worm comes shooting out his gills. He spits it out and then eats it like spaghetti again. I think it may be a kill tactic.

Pazuzu did that a couple of times and it freaked me out. I started cutting the worms into smaller pieces before feeding them to him because of it.
To the O.P. Pazuzu does that with larger snails. He will chew it up a bit, then spit it out, then chew it up again until it is finally gone.

I have to be honest tho my cae just scoots round and hoovers up any remains so not bothered lol. Not so much with muscles tho seems to be powder expelled lol. I can only imagine how irritating it is with less tolerant puffers. I would have to instantly syphon it all out. OCD

hahha. yeah i have the same think when feeding crushed snails. in and out, in and out, in and out. the only thing they dont do this with is blood worms. probably because they are so tiny.
+1 for healthy. they love making a mess!
