Ok,
So I went down to the LFS and saw that they had a ton of snails infesting one of their tanks. I asked the worker there if I could take the snails off their hands, and he said to help myself to them.

So I'm there for about 30 minutes cleaning house and going snail crazy.

My question is, what kind of snails are these and if they are ok to give to my GSPs.

Those are malaysian trumpet snails, or MTS. Its good that you asked here first, because these kinds of snails shells are too hard for puffers, and will chip there teeth. so, no , unfortunately it would be a very bad idea to feed these to your GSPs. sorry!

Good bets for feeding snails are ramshorns and pond snails. please read our excelent articles on snail breeding in the library.

yeah its too bad, a ton of free snails is a really good deal! my LFS uses copper meds in with all their plants so i cant get them from them, and my local meijer actually makes me pay 0.30 per snail!

Soopafly - please don't release those exotics into local waters; actually more ethical & humane to freeze & discard.

TheSmJ's snails are the right ramshorns - the ones he sent me split their time about equally between mating and eating - What a life!

I have a bunch of those stupid things in my community tank. They peeve my off, they're good for nothing are crawl the glass all night. I can't seem to get rid of the little buggers, even with the snail/shrimp trap I made.

They are actually excellent scavengers, clean & turn over your gravel.

And MTS are also the best of the three common pest snails as glass cleaners.
