My GSP is in a 30 gallon tank with a small corey catfish, I added new plants and a rock decoration and all he seems to do is window surf. Do you guys have any ideas to make him not window surf

more decor, but how long has he/she been in there?

That is typical of new additions and can last for a bit.

How is the current in the tank?

Plants and cory cats are not for BW to SW, GSPs are.

GSPs are curious, intelligent fish. They need complex decor to investigate.

+1 to everything so far. Also, like RTR said, GSP's are high end brackish to marine. My Balki would window surf almost constantly while in low to mid brackish. I jumped from mid brackish to marine, and he stopped pacing. He had things to explore before, but then in marine he had liverock to hunt, and tiny creatures to seek out and nom nom nom. It may also be that he is more comfortable in the higher SG, but he is always hunting and exploring now.

+1 also to everything so far. the pacing and the puffer stopping that seven described is exactly the behavior i saw from my GSP

WOW!! I thought I did OK tank set ups, but sheesh PP, after seeing only 2 of yours, mine feel inadequate. What a GORGEOUS TANK!!! =D

And if I remember right, PP said on a different thread that the decorations are all artificial. Go figure eh? It just goes to show that you can have a gorgeous tank without all of the live plants/coral, etc.

Corey cats cannot "handle brackish water fine." They are extremely sensitive to salt and have a very low tolerance to it.

That is weird. I have seem them in brackish doing just fine. If his are living in brackish and haven't died yet then I don't see a problem.

I agree. They are definitely FW fish, not even low BW and 2 is too few.

There's a big difference between surviving and thriving. For example, F8 puffers will stay alive in freshwater for quite a while. Does that mean it's the optimum environment for them health-wise? No.

So just because someone's corey cats manage to stay alive in BW doesn't mean it's OK to keep them that way. An extreme example: I could technically keep a dog alive in a closet in the dark and feed it nothing but bread crust, but that doesn't mean he'd be happy or healthy.
