I got my mappa puffer about two weeks ago. Since I brought him home I havent seen him go # 2. I have seen his stomach get bigger and bigger. I thought he was just gaining weight. I have been feeding him every other day. He is still hungry every other day but he eats less and less before getting full. Honestly, I think i may have a bad batch of ocean nutrition cubes. Before i started feeding him this he was getting clams and mysis on alternating days. He wasn't going # 2 but he would never get full and kept swimming around the tank well.

How often do you guys see bowel movements in your puffers? Should I stop feeding all together for a while?

Try some epsom salt. I believe the dosing is 1 tbs to 10 gallons but wait for someone to confirm that before doing it.

It can be. 1 tbsp/5g for BW/SW species. You could try to offer him some shelled peas or even algae wafers. Another good way to get veggies into him is to feed these things to ghost shrimp & then feed the shrimp to the puffer.

Wont this raise the salinity of my tank? My live rock and other life will be safe?

epsom salt is not marine salt and will not affect your tanks salinity

I add Epsom salt in cups, to raise the mag levels on my reef tank. A few tbsp will have no affect at all.
