Im going to be upgrading my f8 tank soon to a 29 and was wondering if it would be safe to add another figure 8? I have had the f8 for about 5 months and he is with 2 bb gobies and a rhino horn goby.

I think you're good with amounts of fish in that 29 right now, I would say add another figure 8 if you upgrade further. 29 is around the amount you would need with 2 f8s but with the gobies in there I think you're at max IMHO.

I have two F8s in a 29 gallon. I think a 29 gallon can be a good home for 2 of them with no other fish, or for just one F8 if you want to keep other fish in there as well.
Has your one F8 been the only puffer for all 5 months you've had him? He/she might not appreciate the addition of another puff.

Sounds like a reason to upgrade. LOL

I have kept 2 F8s & a few tank mates in a 29g for many many years. Keep up with weekly 50% WC.

yea, hes been the only puffer in the tank. Should I add one more f8 and see how it goes? I can always bring it back if there are problems.

If you do this take the original F8 out and rearrange your decor around and then add both at the same time.
At least I hear thats the best way to do it.

I have not had very good luck with adding a new F-8 to a tank with one which been solitary for any length of time, even if they are still immature.
You might try if could arrange end-end tanks and (agter QT), exchange the water between the two tanks and watch how they interact through the glass. (simple airlifts will do plus at least one passive siphon).
Then if they appear non-aggrssive towrd each other, move both to the new tank (with mature biofilters) when you will have time to watch them. Be prepared ti separate hem if required.

Well I added the new fig8 like 4 days ago, and they are both doing fine. no chasing or nipping at all. Hopefully it stays that way...

It was a lot harder to get pics of both of them then I thought it would be... they kept coming out blurry, so I could only get one at a time. & theres some other pics of the tank mates

Great looking puffs you have there! I'm so happy for you that they seem to be getting along with one another. Good news!
