Does anyone do this and like the way it looks? Specifically with gsp? Just about every fish store has the backs painted that blue color, which looks good. Right now, I just have all of mine bare.

What do you do for your tanks?

I always make/buy 3d backgrounds. I feel they give a much better result however they do take up water volume

Ive started painting all the back Black.

i used to have black backdrops on my tanks, but I felt like it made the tanks too dark. Do you have that problem?

once the tank lights are installed, any colors in there should just "pop" right out at you.

that looks great, the one problem i had was that my puffers do seem to show darker colors with the combo of black background and black sand.

that is a decor and lighting problem.

Puffers will change colors to adapt to their surrounding. Having a dark background and substrate (depending on the puffer) can go both ways. Lurkers and diggers will go darker. Others should (that is the key word) show more color as the decor and lighting are brighter.

I just did my first painted tank, and I am very happy with the results..
