Agree w/BW. Nothing new there, and lacking a number of safety features most such operating systems usually include. But this is obviously a prototype, so the bells and whistles may well be planed for the functional location.

I have multiple such setups operating, the oldest is ~25 years old here. My first such dates back over 40 years, and were modeled on older pre-existing systems at that time.
