My mom's trying to talk me into going out with her for a beer tomorrow. I'm trying to explain gently that most kids don't celebrate the big 21 by having a beer with mum.

I think it's so silly that legal adults ages 18-20 can't drink. It doesn't make sense, and it just makes alcohol all forbidden and more desirable. :/

I'm having a family dinner tonight. Once we finish painting the house, I'll have some friends over. Sometime this week, I think, I'll be going to a classy Trappist distillery with my mom and my best friend from high school, who also just turned 21.

I agree LGP, gotta love america's mentality that we can go to war, vote, buy cigs at 18 but god forbid you by a beer
