OMG! There's been a large explosion in the house of the Norwegian government.

They don't know much yet, but it could be a terror attack. The pics from the site are not pretty.

Wow, hope no one was killed. In the quick looking I did looks like only 3-4 people were injured

There are several probable causes: we have military troops in both Afghanistan and Libya, and earlier was active in the attempt to get peace in Israel/Palestine area, and yes the Mohammad cartoon was published in Norway some years ago. To be honest; I've been prepared for something like this to happen in Norway.
There's been some luck in this situation though: It's summer vacation, so there are fewer people at work these days. And the bomb blew up after the working day was over, so there was even fewer people present.

I live one hour of driving away from Oslo. My brother lives in Oslo, but he is on vacation right now (he left yesterday). His father-in-law works were the bomb blew up, but he too is on vacation (together with my brother). I have an uncle who is a very well known politician in Norway, but he doesn't have any reason to be there right now. But you never know with politicians...
There's been a new attack now - and we don't know whether it's been linked with the first one: There's a large gathering (about 650 persons) of youths from a political party, and a man with a gun went there and started shooting. There are people having been shot. I don't know whether they are hurt or worse (all though there are some news that there are supposed to be people killed there too).
There are not many news on anything yet. The police won't tell much until they have the situation under control. But they've asked for people to leave the centrum of Oslo.
Ugh! What a terrible day!

They've since reported that shortly after that a lone gunman shot up a teenage youth camp. This whole thing stinks of Al Qaeda - it's definitely their style.

This is awful. From what I understand that was a youth camp with political ties. The AP is reporting that this is not foreign terrorism but possibly someone with a point to prove, some political movement.
National police chief Sveinung Sponheim told NRK that the suspected gunman's Internet postings "suggest that he has some political traits directed toward the right, and anti-Muslim views, but whether that was a motivation for the actual act remains to be seen."
A police official said the suspect appears to have acted alone in both attacks, and that "it seems like that this is not linked to any international terrorist organizations at all." The official spoke on condition of anonymity because that information had not been officially released by Norway's police.
"It seems it's not Islamic-terror related," the official said. "This seems like a madman's work." ~ Nils Myklebost and Karl Ritter, API
