I just set up a 10g tank to culture live rock. Good current, salinity at .021. Shallow bed of sand. And tips?

Do you mean cure? Because culturing is when they take man made rock and set them in the ocean for a period of time, then take them back.

I think this site has a nice detailed list of how to do it. Curing anyway, not culturing. How much did you buy and what's it going into? Also what kind? (Those are just curiosity questions.)

I have 5 pounds of cured fiji liverock in there. And 5+ pounds of base rock, man made base rock, and coral skeletons that I'm waiting to culture from the cured stuff. Looks like I got some feather dusters, or baby nems on some of the fiji. Not sure which, I'm new to LR. Will post pics if I can find the buggers again, I saw em when picking my pieces.

Didn't ever find that nem/duster thing again (yet). However I got a good pic of these other things that are on one piece. They are little spiny needle things, brittle but sharp. I took a couple of em in one finger pulling it outta the LR sump at the LFS. Anyway, does anyone know what these are, and are they friend or foe?

Also..... I got my first invert hitch hiker from my Fiji rock!!!! A baby star! It's pretty chopped up, a 5-point I think, missing some arms. But still way cool!, It will probably just lay low til it grows em back, right? Like I said I'm pretty new to these LR critters.

AAAH, Nuclear GLitter, I had time to read some more of that link you sent me. Nice article! looks like those dagger things are hydrozoans or bryzoans maybe! Should've finished the article b4 going to the trouble to draw photoshop circles around the little guys and post the pic, perhaps.

Are those Hydrozoans a threat of any kind? They're awfuly..... spiky.

Hey guys, I just found this in the curing tank.... Could it be... a baby anenome???
Let me know as soon as you guys can cause I'm not sure how to take care of whatever it is. I crushed up some krill last night and soaked it in tankwater, then squirted the paste on to the organism with a syringe, it stuck in the tentacles and the thing retracted itself in tor awhile. Sounds pretty anenome-ish to me but idk.

That aneMone is probably aiptasia, it's considered a pest, it's been known to sting fish/neighboring corals, it can over populate the tank

Yep, aptasia--pest anemone. Multiplies like crazy & stings neighboring corals.
