tank size

hey guys i have a question i currently have my fahaka Cuda in a 90 gallon tank and i am starting to look around for a tank for a decent price because i know the 90 will eventually be to small and i am wondering what is going to be the best size tank to upgrade to for him either a 120 wide or a standard 125???

The bigger the footprint and capacity the better so go long

I have mine in a 150 and I would like to move him into a 240 or even 300. I feel that once they are large, they need a huge tank to be able to cruise around decorations and such. Bigger is always better for these fish in my opinion.

ok ALSO will pool filter sand be an exceptable substrate to use in the tank?...

Feel free can be a pain to clean though these guys are messy, I have recently change from a sandy type substrate to very fine gravel, much easier to vacuum. I think geronimo is addicted to his puffer too lol, I am thinking the same ready for when I move, I just think you cant go too big with these guys they're awesome.

Yeah, 120 is the acceptable minimum size you want to go to. I would look for a 150+ gallon and look in to the 72" long tanks for swim room. Mine is currently in a 180 gallon and I unfortunately have a 25 gallon open that he could go in to and probably will. The pool filter sand looks nice but, like it was said, is a PIA to clean. It's heavy enough to not get too much sucked in to the python but it does get sucked up. A mixture of sand and gravel works nice for a substrate, Fahakas like to hunt in the sand and also like to occasionally bury themselves. One quarter of my 180 gallon is all sand then the rest is a mix of sand/gravel.
