as much as possible.

yes clams on the half shell would work too, crayfish will work too. Basically anything with a hard shell, but NO mts's their shell is to hard and will crack teeth

They generally won't eat small snails so once you get a population going they can eat them anytime they can find them, throw a load in when lights out and most will hide, they eat any scrap of leftover food which is useful or setup a small breeding tank

if he is a baby you may have to crack open the snail with a coffee cup or something. thats what i do just to make it easier because my baby fahaka LOVES snails if i crack them for him and then the pieces of the shell are still trimming the beak or teeth... but mine will eat about 20 at a time. i just run to petsmart and they have a snail problem in thier tanks over populated so i just go in and they give me like a bag full for free. i would try to get free food saves $ especially with a fish with a HUGE appetite!

I found about a million snails at a local lake. I picked up around 500 of them & they're in the freezer. Filbert loves them! So do the clown loaches & plecos.
