I have always really loved planted tanks, but was always intimidated to try one. So I got really stubborn and went for it. I looked at lots of pictures and did research, but I still had problems along the way:
1. The unethical practice of Petco and Petsmart selling terrestrial plants as aquatic plants. My first planted tank attempt was a hot mess of that dwarf sagitaria and the 2 amazon swords being the only actual aquatic plants, a mess of algae and decomposing terrestrial plants.
2. I didn't really do enough research on fertilizing and when I set up the 75 gallon, I was under dosing and had another mess of hair and fuzz algae.
3. I didn't know I had such ridiculously soft water, so RTR helped me with what I need to do to remedy that.

The only issue I have now in the 75 gallon is diatoms, but it's nothing major and I expect the snails to take care of it once they establish themselves a bit more.
