a buck a gallon is a good deal for a tank ... if it has all the bells and whistles go for 2 bucks a gallon.

full marine is another toss up.... I have seen tanks go for as low as 3 dollars a gallon. That is because of the live rock.

Check the cost of the live rock in your area and keep in mind that it only takes a portion to seed a tank. So a 75 gal FW tank can be seeded by a bit of live rock with a good SW marine mix for very cheap.

can't say yea or nay to any of those. What is of value to you may or may not be of value to others.

For example, one SW set up seems nice, but it comes with lights etc.. that I would want to replace anyway. Research what your target is first and go from there.

BTW.. if you are going SW FOWLR .. you don't need the fancy lights. A skimmer is nice, but with research you can do without or keep up with water changes... (hint ... remote deep sand beds)...

hmm, none of them seem to be coming with a skimmer... so i could say i do not need the fancy lights, probably takes away 20-100 bucks... which i can then buy a skimmer with, and buy a junky light

ooh never mind that 125 gallon does, is his light fixture a bit fancy that could reduce the price? only problem... no stand =/

can I tell you a story about a worm?

This little critter didn't like a substrate that was too large of a size nor too small of a size (reminds you of the 3 bears?), it only liked a substrate of a specific size.

That is what you are going to have to do with the fish you intend to keep. Find out what they NEED before the purchase. OR make the purchase and research what is acceptable.

Just plopping things in there is an exercise in disaster.

if you are thinking of going marine... please consider the food chain and work from the fish down.

You won't achieve a perfect balance but at least you'll know what to supplement where and when.
